Best thing to happen in years

I read with interest Mick Spall’s letter about south town (Courier, February 14). Surely the best thing to happen to south town in the last few years is the Leamington Assembly.

It has put Leamington back on the map with live radio and television programmes coming from there, international artists (I saw Lou Reed just before he died) etc.

I was working in Hong Kong last year and met some people from Luton. When I said I was from Leamington they said ‘that’s where the Assembly is’. They come to about 10 shows a year.

I don’t think any other business has done so much for Leamington in the past ten years and I believe this has been done without any kind of financial help from local government.

We are holding a charity dance in the summer and have been given the venue free of charge and I thought it was about time someone mentioned the good work that they were doing for south town.
