Nerw lipreading class in Leamington funded by former pupil’s legacy
After Clifford Jones passed away earlier this year, his daughter Jane Wilde knew that he would want donations in his memory to go towards the Central England Lipreading Support Trust, whose classes he attended towards the end of his life.
Jane, whose father lost his hearing during his service in the RAF and first learnt lip reading at the age of 25, said: “These classes became one of the highlights of his week. He had a wonderful teacher and a really lovely group of fellow students. The classes were always great fun, educational and thought-provoking. My father derived a huge amount of personal satisfaction from the experience and he would not have missed it for the world.”

Hide AdJane recently presented a donation of £620 - raised through funeral donations - to members of the trust at the Thomas Oken Tea Rooms in Warwick. The money will mean that the group will be able to start a new lipreading class in Leamington this autumn.
