Movies zoom in on small traders

It is the brain child of Adam Swords, whose commercial work includes major corporate clients such as Microsoft and Honda Motorcyles.

The 24-year-old, of Saltisford, Warwick, is funding the We Are Warwickshire project from his own pocket because he is passionate about highlighting the characters that run them and the individual service and products they offer and he plans to make more films along the same lines.

He said: “They add character to the area and if we lose them it would be a huge shame. They are interesting and so different from the uniform huge brands. That’s why I want to showcase them.”

Businesses featured in the six films are thebikeyard, a skate, clothing and bike shop in Clarendon Street, Leamington.

And in Warwick, the Slaughterhouse brewery in Bridge Street, Catalan tapas bar and restaurant in Jury Street, and the Brazen Ink tattoo parlour in Coten End, now called The Parlour.

While in Kenilworth they are the Crustum Bakery in Priory Road, and the Orangery, off Talisman Square.

An open event featuring the films will be held at 7pm on April 18 in the Wild Boar pub, Lakin Road, Warwick, where people can meet the traders and sample some goods.
