There are collection points in all Midcounties trading sites across Warwickshire, including its Food stores, Travel branches and Pharmacy sites.

The initiative has been set up to support the International Co-operative Alliance’s fundraising efforts to help provide relief for the people of Nepal and its co-operative members in the area.

Ben Reid, chief executive officer at The Midcounties Co-operative, said: “The Earthquake in Nepal has had devastating effects on the lives of thousands.

“The disaster has touched people’s hearts across the world. We know that there will be many Warwickshire residents who want to do something to help the victims of the Earthquake, so we want to make this as simple as possible by providing them with easy access to collection points where they can donate and know that they are making a difference.

“Co-operatives have a significant role in economic life in Nepal, particularly in the food, farming and finance sectors, and the funds collected will help The International Co-operative Alliance to reach out to Nepal members, working with them to re-build and re-develop the co-operative economy in Nepal for long term sustainability.”
