Man repeatedly hit cat against a tree

Police are hunting a man who repeatedly hit a cat against a tree and railings in Warwick.

And when a concerned passer-by appraoched him and urged him to stop, he threw the cat up in the air.

The RSPCA described the attack as a ‘shocking case of animal cruelty’ and is appealing for information.

The incident happened last Friday (July 26) at 12.15am outside Rohan Gardens, All Saints Road, Warwick, and has been
 reported to the police and the RSPCA.

The cat is now in RSPCA care and he is currently 
being treated at the RSPCA 
Birmingham Animal Centre and Hospital in Frankley.

The RSPCA said: “The cat is extremely poorly had has nerve damage to his tail and bladder.

“He is being kept comfortable with medication and a urinary catheter – but is very ill.”

RSPCA inspector Nicky Foster is investigating the incident. She said: “From what witnesses saw this was a shocking case of animal 
cruelty.

“Fortunately someone managed to stop him – but it must have been absolutely 
terrifying.

“The cat is being cared for by staff at our hospital and he is currently on medication but he is extremely poorly and we are desperately trying to find his owner.

“I cannot believe that someone would do this to a defenceless animal.

“I am keen to hear from anyone who has any information regarding this incident to call me immediately on the RSPCA inspector appeal line on 0300 123 8018.”

The man is described as stocky and was wearing a baseball cap.
