Leamington student up for best female in prestigious unsigned music awards

Navina Rajan, a singer and song writer studying at the University of Warwick has already beaten thousands of other acts to be named in the 2015 Best Unsigned Female category.

The presitgous vote puts her among the UK’s top 10 Unsigned Female Solo Acts and she is hoping for public support to make it even further before online voting closes next week.

Navina, who fell in love with music with as a child, said: “This is a very prestigious award which thousand apply for and which the winner is then voted for out of 10 nominees.

“I am very excited to announce I have been nominated for Best Unsigned Female.”

Navina began performing on stages across the country when she was 17 and released her debut album, ‘Colours’ two years later - producing and playing all the instruments apart from the drums and bass herself.

After gaining widespread recognition for her talents, she is now hoping for a top spot in the prestigious annual awards ceremony.

Launched in 2012, the awards have since seen more than 23,000 music fans cast their vote including celebrities such as folk star Frank Turner and international footballer Gareth Bale.

Navina regularly plays at various venues in Leamington and on her university campus .

The national awards are hosted by Best of British Unsigned who will crown each winner using an online public vote.

The vote for Best Unsigned Female 2015 starts on October 12 and closes on October 18, and votes can be made online here
