Kenilworth allotments have “best ever” open day

The Kenilworth Allotments Tenants Association attracted over 200 visitors for its 12th annual open day on Sunday at Odibourne Allotments.

Visitors enjoyed the fresh fruit and vegetables grown by tenants, as well as the scarecrows constructed for the annual scarecrow competition.

Lily Brownjohn, Secretary of the Association, said: “It was an absolutely brilliant day and the atmosphere was lovely.

People were really impressed with the idyllic setting.”

Other attractions on the day included a bee-keeping demonstration, music by Kenilworth folk group Romany Pie, and a stand selling homemade ice cream which proved very popular due to the excellent weather.

The Mayor of Kenilworth, Cllr Michael Coker, was present at the open day, and a donation from funds raised at the event will be made to his charity, Diabetes Research.
