High achieving Naval Officer from Kenilworth is recognised

Lieutenant Commander Anthony Pimm, 33, has received the Ogilvy Award for having achieved the best score of the Advanced Anti Submarine course over the last 12 months.

Anthony completed the course at the Maritime Warfare School at HMS Collingwood in Hampshire, and he received his award from the Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire, Nigel Atkinson Esq, during the annual Ceremonial Divisions held at the base.

He said: “I am honoured to receive this award. Working at Flag Officer Sea Training (FOST), I continue to aspire to remain tactically current. This award recognises my experiences and the high standard of training I have received during my career so far.”

Anthony currently works as Staff Warfare Officer (underwater) for FOST in Plymouth, where he lives with his wife Francesca and sons Freddie and Henry. His parents, Pauline and Geoff, continue to live in Kenilworth.

He cites his time on HMS Iron Duke as his best deployment so far, where he served as the Operations Officer during the ship’s most recent deployment. He said “This deployment offered a huge diversity of tasking with a variety of military forces and international agencies.”

The Ogilvy medal was introduced to pay tribute to Captain Frederick Charles Ashley Ogilvy RN, who died from typhoid fever while commanding HMS NATAL. The award is now presented annually to the top Advanced Anti Submarine course student.
