Ghost writing producer is ready to showcase his own talents

LEMAR, Tim Westwood and Jodie Marsh are only a few of the highly successful artists Leamington music producer Reece Nagra has promoted.

The former Myton School pupil has also ghost written tracks for scores of mainstream musicians, including a remix for Buju Banton that made it into the top five of the UK charts.

But now, for the first time, the man behind the music is putting himself in the spotlight and releasing his own record.

Reece, who lives in Rugby Road, said: “I used to do a lot of ghost writing where I would make the track and someone else would put their name on it and have put my name out as a promoter, but never as a producer.

“Many mainstream artists have taken so much credit for what I have done. They have all done a brilliant job, but I’ll be watching their videos on TV and thinking, that’s my creation.

“I just woke up one day and thought, it’s time I got some credit for my work.”

And Reece is certainly not lacking in knowledge or experience of working in the industry. After leaving school, he studied music at Coventry School of Performing Arts, before going on to gain qualifications in music technology at Leicester College and Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies in Nottingham.

He has worked at Wildcard Records in Coventry and produced tracks for Jet Star Records and BMG before it became Sony.

More recently, Reece set up his own record label, Babycamp Records - and the first artist he took on was young actor and singer Tyriek Clement, who, at the age of just ten, is looking forward to the release of his debut single, Shine the Light, in the next few months.

Reece said: “I have been working in the industry for almost 15 years and gained a lot of experience. This is something I have always wanted to do.”

Reece’s record, Stars In Heaven, and an accompanying music video is due to be released in the next few weeks.

Describing his music as “versatile”, Reece said his sounds move from R’n’B to dance from one moment to the next and could include anything else if it feels right to him. As well as producing music, he sings, raps and plays his own instruments.

Among his favourite artists are Dr Dre, P Diddy and Timbaland, but he added: “Personally, I like anything - all types of music.

“I’m quite looking forward to seeing my record out there. I am trying to keep my head down to the ground, but I am excited - I’m not used to being on the outside, musically.”

Stars In Heaven will be available on the iTunes website or from Babycamp Records.
