Now in its 34th year, the sell-out sporting event is once again expected to have hopefuls signing up in their thousands when the tickets go out for sale on March 1.

Every year runners across the county rush to secure one of 4,000 places in the charity run which takes participants from Warwick Castle to Kenilworth Castle.

Rasing over £100,000 for charities around the district every year, coveted race places can sell out within a day.

Organised by Kenilworth Rotary Club and Leamington Cycling and Athletics Club, places are once again expected to sell out within hours this year, with hundreds signing on to the waiting list.

Race organiser and Rotarian Philip Southwell said: “There is always a stampede for places as both the serious athletes and the not so serious recreational runners try to get their hands on an entry number.

“This will be our 34th year and the race has never been more popular.”

The race will this year take place on Sunday, June 12 and will be sponsored by Leamington solicitors Blythe Liggins.

Joint senior partner Richard Thornton said of the race: “It is a fantastic event and I can’t praise Kenilworth Rotary Club enough for their organisation – and for raising more than £100,000 each year for charity.”
