Fundraising takes on poignant significance for Sarah

Sarah, head of operations at Warwick-based public relations firm Prova PR, organised the firm’s part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, helping to raise £600 for Macmillan.

But in March Sarah decided to run 33 miles – one mile for each Macmillan nurse in Warwickshire – to raise money for the charity.

However, just one month later her sister was diagnosed with cancer, resulting in the amputation, making the running challenge even more significant. And Sarah smashed her targets and ran for 13 hours in Prova’s on-site gym during her lunch breaks, covering 63 miles between August 26 and September 24.

Sarah said: “I like to give to charity in a proactive way and with the life-changing events my sister has gone through it has made the challenge all the more poignant. I am continuing the momentum with the Santa Dash in December, which raises funds for Myton Hospice.”

Sister Erin said: “Sarah is always up for a challenge and I really admire her for that. When I get my new leg I am going to do the Race for Life, even if I have to walk it. ”

The charitable deeds don’t stop there at Prova PR – Natalia Gameson, senior account manager, rowed 25 miles across the English Channel to raise funds for The AHOY Centre in Greenwich, London.

Natalia said: “It was two years in the planning but it was all worth it in the end, to raise money for London’s underprivileged and vulnerable children. We completed the challenge in less than six hours. Oars away!”
