‘Frustrating’ burglaries in Warwickshire

In Milverton, a laptop computer was stolen from a home during the early hours of Saturday. It is believed the patio doors of the property had been left unlocked overnight.

Police reported other such similar incidents in Longford, Alcester, Nuneaton and Shuttington.

George Stepney, community protection manager for Warwickshire Police, said: “It is so frustrating that so many burglaries can be prevented.

“Just by looking at the wide range of times that these burglaries have taken place shows that opportunist burglars are out and about at all times of the day and night.

“As soon as the warm weather arrives we notice an increase in the number sneak in burglaries where householders have forgotten to lock their doors or conservatory windows.

“People must get in to the habit of checking that all their doors and windows are locked when they go to bed and even when they go to another part of the house.”

He also advised that people should keep house keys and car keys in a secure place that is out of view of anyone looking in through the window.
