Free tickets for troops at cinema in Leamington

A LEAMINGTON cinema is offering free tickets to servicemen and women for the first time.

The Apollo Cinema in Portland Place, and the company’s 13 other sites across the UK, is working with the charity Tickets for Troops to allow members of the armed forces to watch a film for free every week.

These tickets will be made available on the Tickets for Troops website for troops who are currently serving or who have been medically discharged since 2001.

Rob Arthur, managing director for Apollo Cinemas, said: “We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to give something back to the nation’s servicemen and women.

“Through the Tickets for Troops programme the UK’s armed forces will have access to a varied range of cinema releases from Kung Fu Panda 2, to the fourth instalment of Pirates of the Caribbean and the finale of Harry Potter.”

Tickets For Troops was set up in 2009 to provide members of the armed forces with free tickets for major sporting events, theatre performances, music concerts and cultural attractions.

Since launching it has been donated over 250,000 tickets and over 85,000 troops have registered on the website www.ticketsfortroops.org.uk.
