Five men arrested over Warwick ear biting attack

Five men have been arrested in connection with an attack in a Warwick restaurant on Boxing Day in which the victim had part of his ear bitten off.

A 42 year-old man, a 43 year-old man, a 45 year-old man, a 45 year-old man and a 46 year-old man, all from Warwick were arrested yesterday (Wednesday 30 December) on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and wounding with intent. They are all currently on bail until 4 February 2016.

It follows the assault which happened at around 11pm on Saturday December 26 at the Spice Hut restaurant in Market Square, where a man had part of his ear bitten off. A disagreement began between two groups of men in the restaurant, which resulted in a physical altercation.

Detective Inspector Jon Belcher said: “This man has been left with life-changing injuries, in what was a savage and unprovoked attack. We are keen to hear from anyone near the restaurant or in Market Square who can help our investigation in any way.”
