Members of the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) will be staging the industrial action from noon to 4pm over its ongoing dispute with the Government over proposed changes to firefighters’ pensions.

Andy Hickmott, Chief Fire Officer of Warwickshire’s service, said: “It is regrettable that the FBU have now announced strike dates but we hope that this national dispute will be resolved swiftly.

“In the meantime, we want to ensure that the people of Warwickshire are kept safe and I can reassure all members of the community that we have robust plans in place to continue to provide an effective fire and rescue service to the whole of the county.

“We will also be urging residents and businesses to take extra care and we will be putting out safety awareness messages to make people more vigilant. We will also be asking the public to think and to make any 999 calls wisely.

“This is a testing time for the UK fire and rescue service but we are taking every precaution to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum.”
