Three of the seven fire engines have returned from the scene as of 11.40am. The engine is now being moved to Leamington station, while the freights that it was pulling are being moved back to the depot in Birmingham.

The line is still closed but it is hoped it will be clear within the next hour.

Chiltern Rail are running emergency buses from Leamington through to Dorridge but there are significant delays, which are expected to continue to be a problem for some time after the train has been removed.

A Chiltern Railways spokeswoman said: “We have been offering road transport between Banbury and Dorridge for connecting London Midland services to Birmingham.
