The students, who are from courses in health and social care and early years, raised the money at ‘Be Happy’ events at the colleges, selling cakes and gifts, and through a raffle and tombola. Mrs Smith visited Leamington College to be presented with the cheque.

She said: “It’s just incredible the amount that the students have raised so I want to say a huge thank you to them. I was really impressed by the hard work they had put in. Evelyn’s Gift has been working with several small charities to deliver little acts of kindness in Evelyn’s memory and the money raised with go towards this. For example, since we started the charity in June 2015 we have provided lifesaving CPR training to more than 1,000 people, donated bereavement packs to schools and provided essential toiletries and underwear to Leamington Night Shelter.
