Elderly man attacked from behind and robbed in Leamington

An 84-year-old man was hit on the head from behind and had his bag stolen in a robbery which took place between 10.45 and 11pm in Leamington last night (Wednesday January 20).

The man was walking with a crutch along Milverton Terrace when he was hit on the head from behind, causing him to fall to the floor and to drop his bag.

His attacker demanded money and grabbed the bag before running off in the direction of the fire station.

The victim suffered cuts and bruises to his hands and knees and was taken to Warwick Hospital for treatment.

The offender is described as a black male in his mid to late twenties, about 5ft 7ins tall, clean shaven and of slim build. He was wearing a black hooded top with the hood up, along with dark trousers and black shoes.

The victim’s bag is a blue canvas briefcase containing a newspaper and assorted papers.

Warwickshire Police is urging anyone who witnessed the incident or saw anyone behaving suspiciously in the area around that time to call them on 101 quoting incident number 427 of January 20.
