Drugs arrests at Global

POLICE officers questioned more than 250 people in relation to drugs offences at the Global Gathering dance festival this year.

Ten were arrested for drug trafficking offences, with officers believing cocaine, cannabis, MDMA, ecstasy and ketamine being the main substances distributed. More than 150 people were cautioned or fined for possessing drugs. There were also six robberies, including incidents where gold chains were stolen from people’s necks, and eight people were arrested on suspicion of stealing items from tents.

Chief Inspector Chris Lewis, responsible for the policing operation at the event, which took place at Long Marston airfield, said: “While we are pleased that there were fewer crimes reported this year at Global compared to last, we continue to be concerned at the number of people found in possession of drugs.”
