Driver suffers broken collar bone in Stoneleigh crash

Emergency services were called to the B4113 to find the man trapped upside down in his car which had collided side-on with a tree before flipping onto its roof.

The crash happened near the National Agricultural Centre at Stoneleigh just before 3pm on Saturday with “significant damage” caused to the car.

Ambulance and fire crews and the Air Ambulance all attended to try and free the man, in his 30s, who was trapped inside the vehicle.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “When crews arrived they found a car on its roof with the driver trapped upside down, being held in by his seatbelt.

“The car had suffered significant damage and required the fire service to remove the door to allow ambulance staff to get inside to start treating the driver.

“Speaking after the patient had left for hospital, staff agreed that the driver had been extremely fortunate given the level of damage to the car.”

The driver was taken on a spinal board to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire and treated for a broken collar bone leg.

A Warwickshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said two engines from Leamington were sent to the site to find a car had left the road.

Crews used cutting equipment to free the driver by removing the car door.
