The driver of a Ford Fiesta is being sought by police after hitting a pedestrian outside Elliott's Field and making off.

At around 7.20pm on Saturday, November 14, the driver entered the island by Tesco on Leicester Road and mounted the pavement at the entrance to Elliott's Field retail park.

The Ford Fiesta, believed to be silver, then struck a man in his forties - causing injuries to his ankle which are not at present thought to be life-changing.

The driver failed to stop and headed off in the direction of Brownsover.

Enquiries are ongoing and officers are appealing for witness who may have been in the area at the time of the incident or who saw the vehicle and the manner in which it was being driven prior to the collision.
