Dogs will take part in 12-hour swimathon

DOGGY paddle will be the only stroke used by the participants in a charity swimming event taking place tomorrow (Saturday).

Dogs from across Warwickshire will be dipping their paws into the state-of-the-art hydrotherapy pool at Rainsbrook Veterinary Group in Leamington in a 12-hour swimathon to raise funds for Dogs Trust Kenilworth and Dogs for the Disabled.

Celebrity pooch Cassie, who made national headlines after staff at the Dogs Trust helped her shed half her body weight after she had been grossly over fed by her previous owner, will open the event.

Helen Barlow from the Dogs Trust said: “Our canine carers worked extremely hard to ensure Cassie lost all her weight, and swimming in the Rainsbrook hydrotherapy pool was a vital part of her recovery. The money raised will help us care for thousands of stray and abandoned dogs and give them the best possible second chance.” www.justgiving.com/Vetswim2012
