Dangerous road bend gets new surface

A DANGEROUS corner on a road near Warwick has been made safer this week after the county council laid a new surface.

The corner next to Barn Close nurseries on the B4439 from Little Shrewley to Hockley Heath has been the scene of numerous crashes in recent years, with the fence continually being damaged. Previous measures had proven ineffective.

Despite the bend looking fairly innocuous at first glance, vice-chairman of the Shrewley Parish Council Paul Tilley recently called it “the most dangerous corner in Warwickshire”, with tyre skid marks, damaged verges and the broken fence illustrating his case.

A new experimental non-slip road surface was laid this week which local residents are hoping will resolve the issue.
