A man is being questioned by police after a high-speed chase across three counties.

The 30-year-old suspect was finally arrested in Rugby after the dramatic pursuit involving three forces began in Northampton at 4.45pm.

The drama unfolded after a driver in a grey BMW 3-series car failed to stop in Northampton for officers.

The vehicle was pursued through Market Harborough and the nearby villages of East Farndon and Great Oxendon.

The driver was finally stopped in Rugby an hour later at about 5.45pm, Northamptonshire Police said.

The suspect was still in custody on Tuesday afternoon as he was questioned by police.

The 60-minute chase across Northamptonshire, Leicestershire and Warwickshire involved both marked and unmarked police cars.

And the regional police helicopter was also drafted in to support hard-pressed officers on the ground.
