Two men have been arrested after cannabis and knives were seized by officers in Rugby yesterday (Thursday, September 17) as part of a wider policing operation.

Officers from Rugby’s Proactive CID team were on patrol on Bath Street shortly after 3pm when they witnessed three men behaving suspiciously.

Drugs – believed to be cannabis – and four knives were seized after officers searched them.

Two men, aged 19 and 21, from Rugby, were arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis and possession of an offensive weapon.

Both men have been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Warwickshire Police said that carrying weapons comes with a mandatory jail sentence of six months if this is an individual’s second offence.
