A driver has been arrested after failing to stop for police, mounting the pavement and running a red light in Rugby with a baby in the back of the car.

Police arrested the 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, and driving without a licence.

The arrest was made after officers on patrol in Rugby tried to stop the car on false number plates on Sunday afternoon.

The car failed to stop for police before mounting the pavement and going through a red light.

The car was eventually stopped and the man arrested in Lawrence Sheriff Street and officers discovered a baby in the back of the car.
