Another cannabis factory has been discovered in Leamington after armed police

Police received reports of suspicious behaviour at a house in Tachbrook Road and discovered a 'substantial' cannabis grow when they entered the property last night (Sunday).

A 16-year-old boy is currently being question by police.

This is latest of a long line cannabis factories that have been found in the town in recent months.

After our article was published, Warwickshire Police put out a statement the following day.

It reads: "Officers were called to Tachbrook Road, Leamington Spa at approximately 8.30pm on 8 May, following reports of a possible disturbance at two properties.

"The report warranted an initial police response that included several police cars and a dog unit.

"Upon their arrival a boy was stopped and searched at the scene. On account of evidence found, officers accessed two properties with support from a firearms unit, due to concerns for life.

"Two large cannabis farms were found within the properties, containing 800 plants with an estimated street value of £500,000.

"The plants were seized and destroyed, severely disrupting the supply of cannabis within Warwickshire.

"A 16 year old boy from no fixed abode was arrested in relation to cultivation of cannabis and immigration offences. The boy has since been released on bail while investigations continue.

"Police are appealing for any information or CCTV that may assist enquiries. Please call Warwickshire Police on 101 quoting reference 368. Information can also be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their website."
