Last night, February 20, traffic officers in Rugby caught a motorist who thought that driving while only being able to see out of a small patch in their windscreen was a good idea.

A spokesperson for OPU (Operational Patrol Unit) Warwickshire said: "So... quite what the driver could see through their windscreen I'd suggest is slightly limited.

"This blindfolded driver (well they might as well have been) was driving in Rugby when they came to our attention."

Police said they have reported the driver for offences.

The spokesperson warned other drivers that failing to take the time to make sure your windscreen is clear can kill.

They said: "Please take another five minutes to fully clear your windscreen.

"In a worst case scenario this could lead to Death by Dangerous Driving and the associated prison sentence."
