And Avon Toys in Warwick Street is hoping to get more children and adults stuck into their own projects and enter its free model-making contest.

Anyone of any age can make a model, using materials of their choice, on a theme of their choice and bring it into the shop by next Saturday (June 9). All entries will be displayed in the shop and customers will be asked to vote for their favourites. A range of prizes will be awarded to the winners.

Sales assistant Louise Willcott said: “We have had submissions from a nine-year-old and an 80-year-old - it’s open to anyone.

“So far we have had really imaginative things, including a jungle scene, a tank with soldiers and a wooden elf.

“There is a really big one made out of paper mache and some people have used grass from their garden.

“It’s good to get people excited about making models as it’s not something people really do anymore.”
