Community groups in Stratford district can bid for funding

More than £70,000 has been made available to help support community and voluntary groups across Stratford district.

Those involved in small-scale projects that meet community needs are invited to bid for a share of the funding from Warwickshire County Council. Councillors representing each ward will then decide how to spend the £5,000 allocated to every ward.

Applications can be made now, but groups can gain advice on how to apply for funds at a workshop at the district council headquarters at Elizabeth House in Church Street, Stratford, on Tuesday September 16 from 11am to 1pm.

Council leader Cllr Izzi Seccombe said: “Last year £70,000 was awarded to community projects. including Men’s Sheds, Southam Carnival, Henley Community First Responders, Alcester Dementia Café and 1st Kineton Scout Group.

“As long as the applications demonstrate worthwhile community benefit, and promote social inclusion, they will be considered, so I encourage people to come to the workshop to find out more.”
