Chinese New Year celebrated by village nursery

DRAGON dances and food tasting were among the activities enjoyed by youngsters at Windmills Nursery in Harbury this week.

The nursery, in the Grounds of Harbury Primary School in Mill Street, celebrated Chinese New Year and ushered in the Year of the Dragon.

Staff wore traditional outfits and the youngsters made lanterns and hats and learned how to write letters in Chinese calligraphy.

A parent, who had visited Hong Kong, also taught some of the children how to count in Chinese.

The activities were part of the nursery’s curriculum enrichment programme which involves youngsters learning about other cultures and languages.
