Cake competition made good headway

CUSTOMERS at a Leamington bakery wanted to have their cake and eat it when they threw their weight behind a fundraising competition.

Savi’s in Regent Street challenged customers to guess the weight of a cake and the winning entrant got to take it home.

The prize was presented to winner Helena Clarke by Leamington mayor Cllr Yvonne Moore, owner Ray Savage and Janet Sewell, who is the chairwoman of Headway Coventry and Warwickshire.

The competition raised £92 for the brain injury charity, for which Mr Savage’s wife Carol is a volunteer and runs the area support group.

The cake, baked by Mr Savage, had a patriotic Union Flag and Olympic Games theme and weighed 10.1kg.

Savi’s held the competition to celebrate its first year of trading.
