Bees swarm parked car at Waitrose in hive search

Beekeepers were called when a swarm descended on a car parked outside the Kenilworth supermarket.

The small swarm of bees alarmed shoppers when they landed on the vehicle in the town centre.

A pest control company was called by worries shoppers but a beekeeper was later able to safely migrate the creatures.

They were moved into a basket before being taken away and found a new hive.

Pest control workers said the sight was “fairly common” at this time of year as honey bees swarm to set up a new hive during the spring time - often finding temporary places to stop on their way.

Advice is that the bees will not be dangerous at this time, people should contact a beekeeper rather than pest control workers if they see a swarm.
