Road scheme has made crossing safer

Several times a week I need to cross Warwick High Street to visit friends, go to a cafe or attend a class, service, concert or meeting of a local organisation.

The completion of the pedestrian refuge neat the Westgate has made my journey much easier. When the scheme is complete it will be possible to concentrate on one line of vehicles at a time rather than having to thread a dangerous route through ever-moving traffic. Many of us cannot sprint across roads.

I am assured that the money for this work comes from a fund set up by the developers of the huge Tournament Fields area. It cannot be used for any other purpose.

On page nine of the Courer, April 20, the county council officer who is managing the work has accepted the need to review design details once the crossings have been put into use.

For a long time it has been difficult for pedestrians to cross streets in Warwick and I am most grateful for the changes taking place. - Dorothy Parry, Cocksparrow Street, Warwick.
