Sean takes on rickshaw challenge for charity

The event saw him travel 3,000km across India in a rickshaw to raise money for teenage girls in Bangladesh.

Sean hopes to raise £30,000 with his two team mates Tyler Newman, his son, and Philip Miller. They travelled across the country dressed as Teletubbies and nicknamed themselves Delhitubbies.

The fundraisers endured 40C heat and navigated dangerous roads while dressed as Po, Dipsy and Tinky Winky from the BBC children’s television series.

“I was out of my comfort zone for this amazing adventure,” said Sean, who crossed the finish line at the weekend.

“We thought dressing up as the Teletubbies to raise money would be great fun as well as capture people’s imaginations.”

There was no route planned and no back up transport for the Rickshaw Run (theadventurists.com/rickshaw-run), which saw the fundraisers complete the challenge in just two weeks in a seven horse power rickshaw.

Sean and his team are hoping to raise £15,000 for the Action Aid charity and will match this amount to bring the total to £30,000.

He said: “Every penny raised will be going directly to the charity which supports the homeless and vulnerable girls of Bangladesh.

“We spent time visiting the some of the women the charity helps and seeing how our fundraising will be helping those in need. I am looking forward to seeing first-hand how we will be supporting such a fantastic charity.”
