Guests from all over the world including Nigeria, the USA and China, as well as people from throughout the UK and local residents travelled to the Dallas Burston Polo Club to enjoy the day.

Families relaxed in the grounds of the Stoneythorpe Estate where they could watch the polo matches and enjoy picnics in the glorious sunshine. There were activities for all of the family such as a bouncy castle, pony rides and divot stamping in between matches.

Helicopter rides, which provided spectacular views of the action from above, were very popular.

The polo highlight, the Fine & Country Warwickshire Gold Cup Final, was a tense match with CANI retaining their title as champions over Rigby & Rigby.

Louise Jebson, patron of CANI, said: “We played hard to repeat the success of last year and our practice thankfully paid off – the Fine & Country Warwickshire Gold Cup is one of the most admired tournaments in the sport and I’m incredibly proud of my team to have won it a second year running.”

Sean Newman, director at Fine & Country Warwickshire and West Midlands, was the original organiser of the event before it became too large for his team to oversee and was handed over to the Park Lane Headquarters to manage.

He was pleased to see so many from his community on the day and said: “I cannot believe the way the event has evolved since 2008 and that there were 2,000 more registered guests than last year. It was great to see so many friendly faces enjoying polo, a picnic and an ice cream with their family and friends. I think the combination of an informal atmosphere, exciting polo matches and the glorious sunshine is a winning formula and I cannot wait for next year.”

Malcolm Lindley, director of Fine & Country, said: “Fine & Country prides itself in organising events our clients enjoy and remember and this year’s polo event was certainly both enjoyable and memorable. The polo was exciting particularly when the England team narrowly pipped the Australians to complete a famous treble in a week; he British Lions, he England ricket test and now the polo.

“ CANI won the Warwickshire Gold Cup in the exciting final fought out in the searing temperatures. I would like to thank Dallas Burston and his team, the dedicated Fine & Country staff hosting the event, the exhibitors for their support and our guests for making it such a special day.”
