Echoing recent reports from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Office of National Statistics (ONS), both of which reported huge increases in home buyers and rising house prices, national figures show more buyers registering their interest, more viewings on properties and more interest from sellers in 2013.

Encouragingly, national figures in July show a 20 per cent increase in the number of buyers registering an interest with their branches compared to the same month last year. Viewings have increased by 17 per cent in the first seven months of the year compared to 2012 and sales have increased by 22 per cent in July compared to July last year.

Roger Simpson, branch manager for Atkinson Stilgoein Kenilworth, said: “We are definitely seeing a lot more interest from buyers and sellers across the local housing market. In line with the trends that RICS and the ONS recently reported, the number of buyers registering an interest in purchasing a home has gone up.

“Not only this, but these buyers are less speculative and more active than in recent years, as we have seen by the increases in offers on properties and more sales.”

Whether you are a first-time buyer or an experienced home mover, the Atkinson Stilgoe teams believes that schemes like Funding for Lending and more recently Help to Buy have injected some much needed energy into the housing market.

Roger added: “I would urge anyone who is thinking of selling to take action sooner rather than later. The housing market is starting to accelerate, fuelled by Government schemes and better access to mortgage finance, so we expect to see an increased number of property sales as the year progresses.”
