Murfin is group’s first president

Muff Murfin has taken up the position after being a member of the group’s committee for more than 20 years.

The Coventry and Warwickshire NSPCC Business Group consists of more than 20 business people in the area and undertakes a wide variety of activities to raise money for local NSPCC services.

The committee has raised around £2.5 million for the charity, making it the biggest fundraising group outside London.

Mr Murfin will continue to build on the charity’s legacy, overseeing its corporate fundraising drive, as well as helping to boost awareness and support to protect children across the area.

He is an active member of the community and was previously a director of CV One which

was responsible for the management of Coventry city centre and the promotion of Coventry

and Warwickshire.

During his early career, Muff established a number of radio stations in the region including

KiX96 in Coventry and The Bear102 in Stratford and his radio jingles have been played on

radio stations around the world.

He said: “I am proud to have been appointed as president and I am very much looking

forward to the year ahead and giving the committee the backing it needs.

“I have been involved with the charity for more than 20 years and have seen first-hand the

fantastic work it has achieved in the community.

“We have raised close to £2.5million and we will be looking to build on that this year with a

number of events already planned including the Jaguar Land Rover NSPCC Drive and our

annual charity ball.

“They say nothing is ever new in fundraising but I am hoping to be able to use the

experience I have obtained while working in radio, and as a long-standing committee

member, to help strengthen the charity’s profile and build on its accomplishments.

“The success of having a local business group is that the money we raise is spent on local

NSPCC services and helps to provide vital services that support vulnerable children in the

area.”

Les Ratcliffe, chairman of the NSPCC, added: “Muff has been one of the biggest and most

active members of the business group for two decades and it is entirely fitting that he takes

on this new role at what promises to be a very busy time for the group.”
