Lucy’s indulgent treats hit the spot on Waitrose shelves

A Kenilworth food lover has turned a year long illness into a booming business with her dairy free deserts now on sale in the town’s Waitrose.

Just 12 months ago, Lucy Wager launched the brand Pudology to sell a range of gluten, dairy and egg free puddings .

And she is already enjoying booming success after being stocked in Selfridges and a range of UK wholesalers.

But the former food producer she said the most exciting step so far is news that her chocolate puddings will hit the shelves in 20 Waitrose stores - including the branch just streets from her family home on Priory Road.

“I am absolutely delighted and it is so exciting to see my puddings on the shelves in Kenilworth,” she said.

The 30-year-old who now lives in Cheshire where she makes the puddings, said though she has used her background in food production to help, the business was born during a late night baking session at home.

Lucy, who worked for eight years as a food producer for supermarkets, was left with a severe food poisoning after a business trip to India.

When she eventually recovered a whole 12 months later, she was left egg and dairy intolerant and craving her favourite sweet treats.

“I just wanted to cook foods that I missed and I noticed a gap in the market for really indulgent gluten and dairy free puddings,” she said.

“I had an idea for a chocolate pudding one night and it worked. My friends loved it and it wen from there.

“I was stunned by the demand straight away and now we make up to 2,000 puddings a week. It’s incredible but I couldn’t do it without the help and support from my family.”
