Beauty student creates spa on wheels

Beauty student Caroline Jones has started her own beauty business – Zen Ten Spa - the world’s first fully-functioning five-star luxury spa on wheels.

Caroline developed the concept after discovering that customers requiring de-stressing treatments reported feeling worse because of the time and money needed to travel to receive their relaxation.

The therapy suite in this ground-breaking vehicle evokes top class exotic retreats and yet can be summoned to any Midlands doorstep to deliver a portfolio of ten indulgent and relaxing treatments.

Caroline spent 30 years as a journalist before being made redundant.

She retrained in beauty therapies with Royal Leamington Spa College and developing the ground-breaking Zen Ten Spa concept. She completed the City and Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Complementary Therapies at college, and was named ‘Beauty Student of the Year’ in 2014.

While studying, she was continuing to develop the Zen Ten Spa idea ready for when she completed her studies. Caroline recruited top designers at Midlands-based Mercedes and Birmingham’s M6 Motorbodies to develop the unique vehicle.

Caroline launched Zen Ten Spa at an event at the Saxon Mill in Warwick, supported by interim college principal Sue Georgious. She said: “Caroline is one of those people who you just know is going to be a success.”

Warwick Mayor Moira-Ann Granger also attended the event and cut a ceremonial ribbon.

Caroline said, “Zen Ten Spa began trading 14 months after my first lesson and is growing steadily. My life has completely changed within a year because of my retraining. And whilst I hope to benefit from the commercial success of my business, the local community has also benefited as I now volunteer as a complementary therapist at the Myton Hospice network giving treatments to the dying and terminally ill.

“I would never have imagined when I was made redundant that such a radical turnaround was possible.”
