The man known around the global folk scene as the “guitarist’s guitarist” Wizz Jones - who has played with the likes of Mississippi John Hurt and has been mentioned as an important early influence by great folk artists including Eric Clapton, John Renbourn and Ralph McTell - will be performing at the September 22 session.

Then on October 6, audiences can enjoy vintage-style swing by Canadian trio My Sweet Patootie, soon to be followed by American banjo player and singer Zoe Mulford on October 20, with a repertoire which includes songs by Richard Thompson, the Beatles and some of her own.

On November 17, the guest will be Jeremy Taylor, making a rare appearance in this country. He was born in England, grew up in South Africa and now lives in France - and is reportedly the man who added the word “Jobsworth” to the language. After becoming a household name in South Africa with “Ag Pleez Deddy”, he’ll be looking back on his Transvaal years in a series of tales, songs and reflections, leading up to his return to the UK.

The season opens on Monday next week (September 1), with one of the regular Performers’ Nights and from then on runs every Monday, starting at 8pm. Anyone who would like to sing, play or recite is welcome to join in, but they must arrive early.
