The professional Chapterhouse Theatre Company is currently touring its productions of several of the bard’s well-loved plays - and the team will bring Much Ado About Nothing to the castle on July 27.

Full of jealous schemes and cheeky characters, the plot sees Benedick and Beatrice tricked into confessing their love for each other, while Claudio is tricked into rejecting Hero at the altar on the erroneous belief that she has been unfaithful. At the end, Benedick and Beatrice join forces to set things right.

Director Rebecca Gadsby said: “I’m going for a trend at the moment: sexy sword men, strong female characters, idyllic beautiful romance with darker moments. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Gadsby production if it didn’t also have plenty of silly comedy.”

Among the cast is castle regular Mollie Fyfe Taylor (playing Hero), who visitors might have seen leading ghost tours.

The performance starts at 7.30pm. Audiences are welcome to arrive early and bring a picnic, but they are advised to bring warm and waterproof clothing and blankets or chairs to sit on. Tickets cost £13 (concessions £11) in advance or £15 (concessions £13) at the gate. Family tickets available. Call 0871 2200260 or visit www.seetickets.com
