Leamington Scrooge to sing in family classic

The Leamington theatre group will bring the classic tale of Christmas to life with Scrooge; The Musical this month.

The adaptation of Leslie Bricusse’s screenplay closely follows Charles Dicken’s ‘A Christmas Carol’ and the enchanting events of Christmas Eve night.

Filled with songs and dance, the play tells the seasonal tale of when miserly Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by the ghost of former business partner, Jacob Marley, and the ghosts of Christmas Present, Past and Future.

The musical is directed by Tim Willis and stars well- known stage star Steve Smith who plays for Warwick and Leamington Musical Society, as well as a cast full of dancers and singers.

Speaking about the festive classic, Tim said they were finally ready to have some fun on stage after hard work to make it all happen.

“Although everyone has worked hard during rehearsals, we have also had great fun bringing this classic story to life,” he said.

“We are sure our audiences will enjoy this vibrant and uplifting musical and will leave the theatre in a festive mood”.

Music for the family musical includes ‘I Hate Christmas’, ‘Christmas Children’, and ‘Thank You Very Much’.

The performance was adapted from the well-known ‘70s film for the West End in 1992, and has proved hugely popular on the stage.

Scrooge; The Musical, started at the Victoria Terrace theatre on Wednesday and will run until December 13. Performances start at 7.30pm each evening except Sundays.
