The show, for which director Bob Kemp has joined the company for the first time in what is its 62nd production, has some of Gilbert’s wittiest characters and Sullivan’s most infectious tunes including I’m Called Little Buttercup and I am the Captain of the Pinafore.

The plot of the comic operetta revolves around thwarted love between members of different social classes, namely the daughter of the gentlemanly Captain of the Pinafore who has fallen in love with a common sailor but is betrothed to the first lord of the admiralty.

In true Gilbert and Sullivan fashion, true love reigns.

The cast includes some of the company’s favourites from past productions as well as several talented newcomers, while the ensemble show their singing prowess in this nautical romp of love between the social classes.

HMS Pinafore was Gilbert and Sullivan’s first blockbuster hit.
