Show is purr-fect for animal lovers

Smokey the cat has the loudest purr on the planet – and now she’s revving up her lawnmower-like voice for this year’s LovePets Show.

As the new Guinness World Record-holder and a recent ambassador for Cats Protection, she’s the purrfect feline guest at the great-value family day out for people who are passionate about their pets.

Smokey will meet hundreds of visitors to the LovePets Show on Saturday 29 and Sunday October 30 and because she loves being the centre of attention, her purring is hoped to reach thunderous levels.

LovePets features an exciting celebrity line-up, with TV vet Marc Abraham hosting the show and telling humorous tales from his life as a vet, and opera-singing Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalists Pippa Langhorne and pup, Buddy, among the many attractions in the main arena.

Joining them over the LovePets weekend will be a wealth of family entertainment including fast-paced ferret-racing, captivating displays of dog agility and the chance to meet an amazing giant tortoise, intriguing reptiles, magnificent birds of prey and cuddly creatures of all shapes and sizes.

Dog behaviour experts Jez Rose and Karen Wild will be sharing training tips, a team of huskies will be displaying their sled-pulling skills, and there will be a miniature Shetland ponies presentation.

Cats Protection will be matching pets looking for love with new owners through a ‘rehoming wall’, and is one of the many charities and animal-loving groups that will be attending with examples of the pets and wildlife they have supported.
