Sense and Sensibility brought to life at outdoor theatre in Warwickshire

ONE of Jane Austin’s most famous works will be brought to life this weekend at Coughton Court.

The Chapterhouse Theatre Company will perform Sense and Sensibility at Coughton Court near Alcester tomorrow (Saturday) to kick off a number of plays they will do in the Midlands this summer.

Laura Turner has adapted the play for Chapterhouse, and the audience can enjoy an evening of Regency wonderment as Elinor and Marianne Dashwood make their first forays into the excitingly decadent world of 18th century high society.

Follow the sisters as they fall in love, make mistakes and experience heartbreak for the first time in their quest to find a balance between sense and sensibility.

Chapterhouse will follow it up with a performance of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Nights Dream at Catthorpe Manor near Lutterworth on August 6 and again at The Angel Inn in Pershore on August 17.

Their summer will be rounded off with a performance of the Victorian classic Cranford in Baddesley Clinton on Saturday August 27.

Tickets for Sense and Sensibility are £14 for adults and £8 for children, and the grounds open for picnics from 6.30pm.
