Palmer hopes to drum up a crowd at Leamington Assembly

Carl Palmer, probably best known for being one third of the art rock trio Emerson, Lake and Palmer in the 70s, is back on tour in the UK after a break of nearly six years and will arrive to play at the Leamington Assembly at the end of the month.

The dynamic drummer and percussionist’s famously technical and jazz infused style can be heard on some of the landmark recordings in British rock. By 16 he was playing with Chris Farlowe and the Thunderbirds, before going on to play with the likes of Eric Clapton, Emmylou Harris, Bill Wyman and Mick Jagger, and became known as the Drummer’s Drummer.

After Emerson, Lake and Palmer disbanded in 1980 he went on to develop a strong solo career and release several critically acclaimed albums, most recently his 2011 album Working Live – Volume Three.
