New Venew is wired for sound

Live music at the Venew at the Binswood, Leamington.

MY first look at this state of the art purpose built Leamington music venue had a big impact on me as a local music fan.

A spacious high stage, good sized lighting rig, a beautifully decorated room which I would estimate would accommodate around 150 people as a standing venue and ample space to be used for a reasonably sized all-seating event and, of course on the music side, completely wired for sound.

Their plan is to attract both up-coming and established musicians and artists both local and from around the country to the venue, which they will be launching in style with a big party on Friday 11th March from 7pm.

The headline act will be signed artist Tim Laws (also hosting the event) with his eight-piece band playing a selection of classic covers, including Motown, swing and rock and roll, and original material. Also on the bill, a jazz/funk band and a magician.

This will be a free entry event but people are advised to phone 07740799498 to be put on the guest list.

The Venew will have three what they call prime nights, but keep a look out as there will also be events on other days: The Big Jam on Thursdays, a live Jamming session with the house band lead by Tim Laws; Fat Live Fridays, the main live entertainment night with high quality live bands, solo artists and comedians; Smooth Sundays, every first Sunday of the month an afternoon of live jazz and every third Sunday an afternoon of live blues.

For me the Venew is a great addition to the live music opportunity’s in the town to go along with the magnificent Assembly and the great live music pubs we have in the town at this time and also I think it fills the gap between the two perfectly and I wish it every success.
