Ensemble 360 are returning to the theatre at 11.30am to perform Stan and Mable by Paul Rissman, suitable for three to seven-year-olds, with well-known storyteller Polly Ives narrating.

Later in the afternoon at 3pm, the ensemble will perform two pieces of music accompanying films. Artist Katie Goodwin has painted some vivid images to go with Benjamin Britten’s haunting Six Metamorphoses after Ovid Opus 49 for solo oboe.

The afternoon programme also includes Britten’s Sinfonietta Opus 1 and a new work, With Stolen Fire, by Music In The Round’s associate composer Charlie Piper - which uses archive film footage from the British Film Institute that explores the process and art of steel making, the hallmark of industry in Sheffield where Ensemble 360 is based.

Also included are performances of the lively and witty Nonet by Czech composer Bohuslav Martinu and Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll - which was composed as a birthday present for his second wife Cosima, who woke on Christmas Day 1870 to hear it being played to her.

Ensemble 360 will also be performing at this year’s Leamington Music Festival Weekend on Friday 2 May.
