Lawson trio launch new season in Warwick

THE popular Lawson Piano Trio will take to the stage in Warwick this weekend to launch the 2012 Music in the Round season.

On Sunday they will perform a family concert Dance Around the World at the Bridge House Theatre at 11.30am, in an event specially geared for seven to 11 year olds.

They will learn about dance from the ballroom to the barn, with some gypsy music thrown in as well, and taught the tunes of Haydn, Grainger, Grieg and Stravinsky among others and have an opportunity to meet and chat with the musicians.

Following a talk, open to all ticket holders, at 2.10pm about the Trio itself and the works they will play, there is the more formal afternoon concert at 3pm.

The programme has three well known trios, by Haydn, Debussy and Brahms, plus a work commissioned by the Trio.

Formed by pianist Annabelle Lawson in 2000, the Trio’s line-up is completed by Fenella Humphreys on violin and Rebecca Knight on cello, and they have built a very strong following around the world after performing in Australia, Germany, Austria and Finland.

They have recently had a new work commissioned inspired by the 2012 Olympics.
